Everyone needs to take time for themselves every once and a while. Because life can be stressful, especially right now with so much happening in the world. Sometimes we need a little escape, even if it's just 10 minutes a day. I found that there's no better way to do this than with some self-care. Self-care is of course important for our physical health, but it'll also very important for our mental health as well. So I figured I'd challenge you all to take a little time for yourself each day this week. Here is a 7-day list of self-care ideas.
Day 1 - Create a Journal
Journaling is a great way to express your thoughts and get them out onto paper. It helps your mind relax and wind down. I found that the best time to journal is right before bed at night. I always find that I sleep better when I get everything off my mind from the day before I go to sleep.
Day 2 - Take a Nice Long Bath
One of most favorite ways to relax without fail is taking a nice relaxing bath. You can keep it simple with just some warm water and bubbles or if you're feeling extra you can try a few drops of lavender oil, baking soda, and Epson salts. This combination works wonders! It's very relaxing and the baking soda helps your body detox.
Day 3 - Have a Morning Yoga Session
A few months ago I started morning yoga and it has helped my body immensely. I used to always have back and neck problems, especially when I woke up in the mornings. Yoga is a great way to wake your body up for the day and strengthen your body without having to do an intense workout. I also find it helps me to get in a good mindset before I start my day, it's almost a bit like meditating.

Day 4 - Create a Night Time Routine
Spend an evening creating a nighttime routine for yourself. This will not only give you a little me time, but it also helps your body recognize that it's time to wind down for the day. I started creating my night routine slowly over the course of a month, and once I figure out what worked for me, it stuck! I've been doing the same night routine for the past year. Day 5 - Sit and Read a Book
Take a few minutes for yourself during the day or before bed and read a book. Reading has been proven to be a great way to keep your brain sharp and in shape. Any book works, personally I like fictional books. They help me escape reality for a little while. My boyfriend on the other hand loves learning new things so he prefers fact books. Maybe take some time to figure out what type of books are your favorite. Another option would be to relax and have a movie night.
Day 6 - Try a New DIY
Trying something new is always fun right? Pull out your craft supplies and start creating something. Being creative is just a really healthy form of expression. Maybe try a new hobby you've been wanting to get into.
Day 7 - At Home Spa Day
Last but not least, we have Spa Day! This is the day you set aside 30-40 minutes of time just for yourself. Maybe at the end of the day once the kids are asleep, or if you're an early bird you can wake up before your day would normally get started. Take a bath or shower if you'd prefer. Give yourself a pedicure and (or) manicure. Try a new face mask and listen to some relaxing music. Do whatever it is that makes you feel pampered and refreshed.
